Hi! I am so glad you decided to visit!

My name is Mallory and I am the artist behind From Ashes Designs. I'm just a Southern girl from Georgia who loves some homemade chocolate cake, a good cup (or two or three) of coffee, and pretty much all art supplies. I have been playing around with lettering and drawing for as long as I can remember. However, I took some breaks in between doodling and became a high school math teacher. After three years of teaching I decided to try something new, and here we are!

Lettering and painting started as a fun way to save money on gifts for friends and family and developed into something much more. The process and journey of learning how to letter and create has pushed me to be more confident. Through it I have learned about myself and my abilities and how to use them well. My hope and desire is that through my lettering and art you will experience more joy, creativity, encouragement, and comfort. I hope that you will feel welcomed, and that you will learn to embrace your unique talents and abilities and live them out daily.

Why “From Ashes Designs”?

When I started thinking about starting my own business, I knew that I needed a name. I grew up in the church, and have always know the following verse:

"provide for those who grieve in Zion- to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning..."

- ISAIAH 61:3

For me, it has always been an example of how beauty, hope, and joy are often born out of destruction, pain, and grief. The hard, ugly things of life can often open us up to the most beautiful and empowering things.

This is the same way I view art. Anything can be made beautiful with the right perspective. We are all creative artists in our own right, it's just a matter of finding the confidence to own it. So why From Ashes? Well, no matter how long you have been trying, or how great of an artist you think you are, the fact that you are putting yourself out there and confidently giving it a shot is what makes it a masterpiece. Beauty is formed From Ashes.
